An old documentry which makes some links between taking magic mushrooms and ESP abilities. I'm not quite sure what to make of it's authenticity, but it's an interesting idea none the less.

One Step Beyond - The Sacred Mushroom

Here's an article about the source of the doc and film makers:

Quote
From January of 1959 to July of 1961, John Newland directed and hosted a unique television program entitled One Step Beyond. Newland and his creative crew combed the literature and produced 96 episodes of excellent programming based on real stories of psychic and paranormal phenomena.

It would definitely be interesting to see some psychic research related to mushrooms, or other similar entheogens like DMT or LSD.

I know Johns Hopkins University has been doing some mushroom research, but not sure if they've addressed the psychic angle or not. Probably a big leap for an educational institution....

Psychic research was actually quite big in the 70's until it was later discovered that many of the 'positive' results had been achieved by a group of test subjects using conjuring skills to distract the researchers, misdirecting their attention etc. After that it rapidly lost all credibility in scientific establishments and now it is really on the fringes.

Those that have studied it have never been able to get statistically valid data proving that the phenomenon even exists. Anyone want to post a link proving me wrong?

they test astral projection and found statistical significance (i.e. at least 95 percent chance). it's a great book
