I keep hearing about this "wormwood". It's like a comet that was prophesied in the bible or something?

Yes, I believe your correct. I think the book of Revelations refers to Wormwood as being a sort of death star that will impact the earth and bring about the end-times. Many connections have been made to Wormwood also being Planet-X or Niburu. Which incidentally some astronomers are saying is approaching and could indeed have devastating effects for the planet earth, sometime around 2012!

Quote
"And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter." (Revelation 8:10, 11 - KJV)

I recently read a book, The Light of Other Days, by Arthur C. Clarke and Stephen Baxter. In their near future story the global population lives with a reality the a comet called Wormwood will impact the earth in a 100 years and kill everyone. As an aside, this story centers around the idea of creating and controlling wormholes to see anything you want around the world, and ultimately throughout history!  Shocked  It's getting very hard to discern between science fiction and reality these days.
